After those snowy photos, someone on another site commented hoping I was staying cozy. I am staying SO cozy! This is my wood cookstove - it heats our house and we cook on it all winter long. It’s actually easier to cook on a wood stove than it is on an electric one because I can move the pots over to the right to get incrementally less heat - makes it very easy to control the temperature, and that side table works wonderfully as a warmer or a defroster. I roast chicken in the oven, I even do pressure-canning on it. I love it, there's nothing like the radiant heat of a fire - so much better than a furnace. I’ve gotten very good at making a fire every morning - the cold is very motivating! Once it’s going, Ginger leaves her warm bed and stretches out in front of it.
Here it is at night - this photo was taken a bit later after I got a stainless steel counter cover for the side table, making it easier to clean:
We have another regular wood stove in the basement that we fire up when it gets really cold… you know, 10-20 below zero kind of thing. I grew up in a home heated by wood stoves and I wouldn’t have it any other way - at least until we finally get free energy tech declassified to where ordinary people get to use it! (Looking at you, CIA rat bastards.) 🤣😂

Beautiful way of life! ❤️
Wonderful!
Where did you get your stove?
